NEWPORT BEACH – A fire at a Corona del Mar home Monday afternoon left one person injured, authorities said.

Fire crews about 2:35 p.m. responded to a blaze in a two-story home in the 600 block of Marguerite Avenue, said Jennifer Schulz, a spokeswoman with the Newport Beach Fire Department.

Firefighters rescued one person from the home and took the person to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana. Authorities did not say whether the person was a man or woman and did not comment on the severity of the injuries.

Additional crews from the Orange County Fire Authority were called in to assist Newport Beach firefighters. The blaze was brought under control shortly after 3:30 p.m., according to MetroNet, a fire dispatch service.

Both directions of Marguerite were closed as crews fought the blaze, police said. The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
